Collingsworth Family to perform for HCCA benefit

SoVaNow.com / October 16, 2013
The Collingsworth Family, a nationally known gospel ensemble that has been featured on Gaither Homecoming concerts, will perform in South Boston, on Thursday, Nov. 7, 7 p.m., at Halifax County High School.

Doors open at 6 p.m.

All proceeds will go to the Halifax County Cancer Association to assist cancer patients in Halifax County.

The Dove and Horizon Award-winning ensemble began in 1986 when Phil and Kim, as a young couple, were asked to serve as church camp musicians in Michigan. Now touring nationally and singing with their four children, they have served as ministers of music and teachers in several congregations and colleges.

Kim, a pianist and arranger, accompanies both vocal songs and also instrumental pieces by their daughters, who are violinists, and by Phil, who is a conservatory-trained trumpeter.
