HCLT bringing back Beehive
SoVaNow.com / January 06, 2014Little Theatre doesn’t bring many shows back for a revival, and when they do, it’s because the show was a huge hit or there are a lot of requests to see it again. And that’s exactly the case with BEEHIVE: The 60’s Rock Musical! It’s coming back, and auditions are just around the corner. Monday and Tuesday, Jan. 13 and 14, auditions will be held at The Prizery at 6:30.
BEEHIVE is the musical review of all those glorious female singers from the 60’s: The Supremes, The Shirelles, Connie Francis, Dusty Springfield, Janis Joplin, Grace Slick, Patti LaBelle, and more. And most of those singers had male or female back-up singers, so director Victoria Thomasson is looking for them all – divas and doo-wops.
Each person auditioning should prepare a 60’s song of her or his choice. Little Theatre will have a pianist to accompany a singer if sheet music is brought, or a person could sing to a CD or acapella.
In addition to divas and doo-wops, dancers are also needed for this musical extravaganza, so male and female dancers are encouraged to audition. All sorts of dance styles are covered in the 60’s, so “come strut your stuff” and be a part of the show. A lot of the musical stories are told through dance.
BEEHIVE shows off folk rock, party rock, psychedelic rock, great love songs, Motown, the British Invasion, and more! The show was a huge hit when Little Theatre first produced it in 2004 in the high school auditorium, and now it’s coming to a new venue in a new decade. Don’t miss being a part of the show.
Dust off the dancing shoes or find that old music and prepare your best shot at a 60’s song and come out on Jan. 13 or 14. For anyone who is out of town on those dates, a backup date or call back date is set for Thursday, Jan. 16, at an alternate location. Call 572-6867 for more information. Remember, we’re looking for divas, doo-wops, and dancers for a dandy rewired BEEHIVE.
