South Hill’s Juried Art Show May 7, 8

The South Hill Revitalization Committee announced that Robbie McMillan will be entertaining guests at the Juried Art Show on Friday night, May 7 in the art event leading up to Saturday’s Spring Fest 2010.

He lives in South Hill with his wife, Maria, and their three dogs. He is a guitar teacher and holds concerts every December.

Also, Pat Franklin will be the judge for this event, part of Spring Fest 2010. The artist’s reception and juried art competition will be Friday night from 7-9 p.m. at the R. T. Arnold Library in South Hill. Artists will be exhibiting and selling their work that evening following the judging, as well as on Saturday during Spring Fest held just up the street from 10 until 3 p.m. Spring Fest offers food, fun, games, exhibits, and more for the entire family to come out to enjoy with the Art Show and Sale an added bonus for guests this year. Several local artists as well others from around the state and area will have their work on display and sale during the event.

Deadlines are:

Thursday, May 6 — Art Competition Entry Registration and Indoor Art Booth Set up at 4 p.m.

Friday, May 7 — Art Competition Entry Registration and indoor art booth set up 9-12, Friday, May 7 — Art Venue will be closed for judging for the afternoon.

Friday, May 7 — Artist Reception 7-9 p.m.

Saturday, May 8 — Spring Fest 2010 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

Vendor booths are $30 and include 2 free entries into the art competition; entry into the art competition does not require a vendor booth. Art competition entries are $10 each and all fees are due with application and entry registration. Send completed application and photos for consideration to:

Divisions include Professional Art Division, first place $200, second $100 and third place $50; Professional Photo Division, first place $100, second $50 and third $25; Amateur Division, first place $50, second Place $25 and third place $15.

The SHRC reserves the right to refuse any item. Artists must be 18 years of age and all works of art must be original and created by the artists. Art will include paintings, drawings, sculpture, pottery, wood and photography and other forms considered to be fine arts or fine craft.
