State park hosts CHAOS stargazing party Friday / August 07, 2014
The Chapel Hill Astronomical and Observational Society (CHAOS) provides each month a friendly session where you can increase your knowledge of astronomy, enjoy the wonders of the night sky, and have fun with other members of the club.

This Friday, CHAOS will be holding an observing session at the Staunton River State Park. It’s a public event for local residents and campers that begins at 8 p.m. Deep Woods OFF is highly recommended to keep the bugs away. The session ends at 11 p.m.

If weather permits, the clear sky will allow for great viewing of the night sky a few days before the peak of the annual Perseids meteor shower and a night of the full moon, which is expected to be the brightest full moon of the year.

All experienced levels are welcomed to the session. If you do not have any equipment, the club welcomes you.
