White Oak Fun Day to benefit HCCA

Tommy Epps, with Epps Body Shop, will be hosting “White Oak Fun Day” Oct. 19, to benefit Halifax County Cancer Association. The Fun Day will be held at 5037 Chatham Road (Hwy. 57) Halifax, beginning at 9 a.m. Events of the day will include a cruise in featuring antique and custom cars, trucks and motorcycles, antique and 1⁄4 scale tractors, airplanes, helicopter, food, bluegrass and gospel music, remote control airplanes and barrel rides for the kids.

The food available for purchase will be barbecue plates and sandwiches, hot-dogs, and sandwiches and bake sale items. 50/50 drawing tickets can be purchased for $1 each or an arm length for $5. Along with cash prizes, other prizes will be awarded.

Tommy Epps has hosted the fun day to benefit Halifax County Cancer Association in 2011 decided to host the “2013 White Oak Fun Day” to benefit Halifax County Cancer Association and those in the community who have been impacted by cancer again.

Halifax County Cancer Association is here to help anyone in Halifax County who has been diagnosed with cancer. Sharon Blosser, director of Patient Services for HCCA said that the only two requirements for receiving services from HCCA are be a resident of Halifax County and have cancer.

Some of the services provided by Halifax County Cancer Association are gas vouchers, medication assistance, bras, prosthesis, wigs, turbans, ensure, diapers. Each patient is an individual with Halifax County Cancer Association, states Blosser, and we look at each case to see how we can help and be of assistance.
