HCLT, Prizery join forces for Christmas Carol

Halifax County Little Theatre and The Prizery will join forces this fall to bring back a wonderful holiday tradition to the local stage: Alan Menken’s musical version of  Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.  Performances will run from Nov. 27 - Dec. 13. Auditions will be held Monday Aug. 17 and Monday Aug. 24 at 7 p.m. in the Chastain Theatre at The Prizery. Director Chris Jones is looking for actors and singers of all ages to fill this large cast of characters. Limited roles are available for children age 8 and older, including Tiny Tim, angels, and ensemble parts, and many roles are available for older children, teens and adults.  Those auditioning are asked to be prepared to sing 16 bars of a song of their choice. Rehearsals begin Aug. 31.

Prizery plans Summer Theatre Celebration

The Prizery’s fourth annual Summer Theatre Celebration is sure to be a crowd pleaser. Kicking off the season is Oliver!, the multi-Tony Award winning show based on Charles Dickens’ classic novel, Oliver Twist. It tells the story of the young orphan, Oliver, and his adventures on the streets of London and features such classic songs as Food, Glorious Food, Where is Love, and As Long As He Needs Me.
