The event drew a great turnout and netted hundreds of donations at the SPCA parking lot by Clarksville Ace Hardware. Dan River Ruritans plan barbecue dinner

From left, Dan River Community Ruritan Club Members  Joe Glascock, Ira Ingram, Wallace Stevens, Charles Brooks, Earl Satterfield, Stuart Loftis and Marshall Vaughan make plans for  BBQ dinner fund-raiser this Saturday.  The BBQ will be cooked fresh for hours using Joe's Secret BBQ sauce.  The barbecue supper will be from 4:30-7 p.m.; eat-in or take out. Plates include barbecue, slaw, beans, hush puppies or rolls, dessert and beverage. Adult plates are $7, children under 12, $3. The club is located on Shady Lane across from Runt Powell’s store. Come out and support our community projects such as the Halifax Cancer Society, American Red Cross Blood Drives, Halifax County Hospice, Halifax County / South Boston Museum, Halifax County Serenity Garden and school scholarships just to name a few.
