Ezekiel, Chapter 36

The first 15 verses of this chapter are written to the people, but it is primarily written to the land of Israel. It has to do with Esau, and his desire to control Israel. At that time, Israel and Judah were still separate, and they will be until the very end of this age. Why would Esau want so badly to control Israel? It has been estimated that there is more oil under the land of Israel than in Saudi Arabia. As a result of the “red line” misstep of the United States president, the present Russian leader took advantage of the situation to gain control in the Middle East. He would like nothing better than to take over the country of Israel as well. Remember, part of the land was Esau’s by inheritance, but in a moment of hunger, he sold it to his brother Jacob for a bowl of boiled lentils. God is pleased when we appreciate what we inherit from Him, so He was not pleased that Esau “despised his birthright”. The descendants of Esau make up the Russian people of today, and look at what that government has done to its people. Theirs is a communistic, socialistic government. It is even in their title, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.

Ezek. 36:1 ”Also, thou son of man, prophesy unto the mountains of Israel, and say, Ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of the LORD:” Basically, this message is for the Christian nations, not the country of Israel. It is strange that most of the inhabitants of the Christian nations do not know that they are a part of those 10 Hebrew tribes that went north when God scattered them.

Ezek. 36:2 “Thus saith the Lord God; Because the enemy hath said against you, Aha, even the ancient high places are ours in possession:” This “Aha”, is a sneer. How much America has given in aide to other countries! How much they still expect us to give, and yet, with their hands out, they are very vocal in their hatred for us, as well as for the Jewish people. To them, we are “infidels”. They loudly exclaim their purpose of destroying us as well as the Jewish people and possessing their land! It is unbelievable that our government has not learned that you cannot buy friends. In spite of the mounting national debt, they are still handing out money to foreign governments of people who hate us. We wind up financing groups of terrorists who kill our soldiers and anyone else connected with God or Christianity.

Ezek. 36:3 “Therefore prophesy and say, Thus saith the Lord God; Because they have made you desolate, and swallowed you up on every side, that ye might be a possession unto the residue of the heathen, and ye are taken up in the lips of talkers, and are an infamy of the people:” The use of “residue of the heathen” means, the rest of the world - those who are not Christians. Our Father is saying to us, “You allow yourself to be deceived; brain-washed beyond belief. You are mocked and slandered”. Our people are caught up in political correctness. Christians should only be caught up in Biblical correctness. How current is that message from our Father?

Ezek. 36:4 “Therefore, ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord God; Thus saith the Lord God to the mountains, and to the hills, to the rivers, and to the valleys, to the desolate wastes, and to the cities that are forsaken, which became a prey and derision to the residue of the heathen that are round about;” The use of “mountains” is speaking of nations. “Hills” means smaller nations. This, in a sense, covers all the world and is known as “one-worldism”, the plans for which has been underway for many years. It has yet to solidify into the “one world order”, or “the new world order” as it is called, and is prophesied to happen “in the latter days”.

Ezek. 36:5 “Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Surely in the fire of my jealousy have I spoken against the residue of the heathen, and against all Idumea, which have appointed my land into their possession with the joy of all their heart, with despiteful minds, to cast it out for a prey.” “Idumea” means Esau’s offspring, the government of Russia, in particular. This verse says that their minds are set on possessing God’s land, Israel. Why? Esau sold it, and many years later, his descendants also sold the part of Russia now known as Alaska, to the United States in a deal recorded in our history books as “Seward’s Folly”. It should have been named “Seward’s Oil Reserves”. They are still planning to get it back, not by buying it, but by the force of their army, as we are told later in this book of Ezekiel.
