Worship service at Scottsburg UMC opened with the prelude “Mighty to Save” played by Lee Snead. Rev. Marsha Davis had welcome remarks, announcements, prayer and led the preparation for worship. Hymn of praise was “Angels From the Realms of Glory.” Offertory hymn was “Shine Jesus Shine.” Usher was Tim Snead. Special music was a solo “All Hail the Power of Jesus Name” by Lee Snead. Rev. Davis led the prayer of illumination and read Isaiah 60: 1-6 and her message “The Glow of a Star.” Rev. Davis led confession and had joys and concerns, prayer and the Lord’s prayer. Rev. Davis had installation of the church leaders and sacrament of Holy Communion with Faye Edmondson assisting. Closing hymn was “The First Noel.” Rev. Davis had dismissal blessing and benediction was “Blest Be the Tie That Binds.” Tim Snead was acolyte.

Worship service at Clover UMC opened with the prelude “Crown Him with Many Crowns” played by Joyce Edmondson. Rev. Davis had welcome remarks, announcements, prayer and led the preparation for worship. Call to worship was “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus” by the choir. Hymn of praise was “My Jesus I Love Thee.” Offertory hymn was “Abide With Me.” Ushers were Edd Edmondson and David Conner. Choir anthem was “Because He Lives.” Rev. Davis led the prayer of illumination and read Isaiah 60: 1-6 and her message “The Glow of a Star.” Rev. David led confession and had joys and concerns, prayer and led the Lord’s prayer. Sacrament of Holy Communion were observed with Summer Martin assisting. Closing hymn was “Leaning On the Everlasting Arms.” Rev. Davis had dismissal blessing and benediction was “Threefold Amen.” Megan and Summer Martin were acolytes.

Remember the sick and shut-ins and our troops, along with Margaret Martin and those with the flue.

Faye Edmondson visited with Tanya and Zach Cole Thursday.

Visiting in the home of Hugh Edmondson were Sandra Waller, Iris Redd, Ethel Everhart, Michelle and Sierra Womack, Cheyenne Conner, Frank Whitlow, Brittney Reynolds, Juanita Smiley, Jason Toombs.

Happy Birthday to those celebrating this week. Scottsburg UMW meets January 14 at 7:00 p.m. at the church.
