FREE SUMMER CAMP JUNE 30-JULY 3
American Legion Post 99 and Living Word of Christ Fellowship Church hosts a free Summer Camp for children ages 7-16 Monday, June 30 through July 3 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. daily. Breakfast and lunch provided. Activities include workshops, arts and crafts, talent show, Bible studies, basketball, softball, golf and more. For more information, call 476-6554 or 470-6305. MECKLENBURG YMCA 5K AT LAKEFEST JULY 19
The Mecklenburg County YMCA is holding its annual 5K and one mile kids fun run the morning of July 19. This is a great chance to start your day before the beginning of Lake Fest. This event is open to anyone interested in the 5K. The one mile fun run is for children 12 years and younger. There is a cost. AL-ANON MEETS EVERY THURSDAY
If you have a friend or relative who has a problem with alcohol, you need to come to the Al-Anon meeting which is a meeting for friends of alcoholics. The meeting is held every Thursday night at 8 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 800 Main Street.

LOCAL LONG-TERM CARE OMBUDSMAN PROGRAM
If you are a resident of a long-term care facility (nursing home or assisted living facility) in the counties of Mecklenburg, Halifax or Brunswick and have a complaint, question, or concern that has not been answered to your satisfaction, there is a resource you can call. The ombudsman at Lake Country Area Agency on Aging, Linda Gage, assists and advocates for residents in these counties.
