YMCA SOFTBALL INFORMATIONAL MEETING MARCH 30

HALIFAX SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION MEETING APRIL 1
The Board of Directors of the Halifax Soil and Water Conservation District will conduct its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, April 1 at Molasses Grill, Halifax at 11:30 a.m. The public is invited to attend.

The Wilson Memorial Ruritan Club will conduct a roadside cleanup on Saturday, April 4 at 9:00 a.m. Lunch will be served at noon at Oak Level Presbyterian Church. Workers will meet at Oak Level Presbyterian Church or start in their designated area, bags and safety vests will be furnished, just call Conway Goodman at 476-6700.

The South Boston/Halifax Junior Woman’s Club GFWC will be sponsoring a Spring Festival at the Woodview Nursing Home on Saturday, April 4 from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. for children ages 1-12. Activities include an egg hunt, egg decorating, cake walk, pictures with the Easter Bunny, story time, and card making for the Woodview residents.

HALIFAX HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL BOOSTER CLUB MEETS APR. 6
The Halifax County High School Baseball Booster Club will meet Monday, April 6 at 7 p.m. at Halifax County High School. The meeting will be held in a physical education classroom near the locker rooms. Persons attending the meeting are asked to enter the building through the auxiliary gym door. All parents of players on the high school varsity and jayvee baseball teams, parents of students who plan to try out for either the jayvee or varsity teams, and persons interested in baseball in Halifax County are urged to attend this meeting.

FIND THE EASTER BUNNY AT OCCONEECHEE STATE PARK APRIL 11
Help find the Easter Bunny! The Easter Bunny was hiding Easter Eggs in the park, and can't find its way back. Find the Easter Eggs using GPS, and use the clues inside each egg to find the Easter Bunny. The hunt begins at Occoneechee State Park's Visitor Center on Saturday, April 11. Arrive anytime between 12:30-2:30 p.m. We'll loan you a GPS receiver, show you how to use it, and then you can start hunting Easter Eggs. There is a charge. Call the park's Visitor Center at (434) 374-2210 for more information.

VERNON HILL COMMUNITY YOUTH GROUP
April 12, Sunrise service at Pleasant Grove at 7:00 a.m., practice April 5 at 4:00 p.m.; April 19, bowling at World of Sports, leave Mt. Vernon at 1:30 p.m.

VIRGINIA BOAT SAFETY CLASSES APRIL 15 & 22
Boy Scout Troop 410 and the Wilson Memorial Ruritan Club will host the Virginia Boat Safety Course at Oak Level Presbyterian Church April 15 and 22 from 6:30-10:00 p.m. You must register in advance by calling 476-8164 or 476-6700. Virginia boating laws will change on July 1 and you can be updated and qualified by passing this course.

OAK LEVEL FIRE DEPT. BREAKFAST APRIL 18
The Oak Level Volunteer Fire Department will have a breakfast on Saturday, April 18 from 7-9 a.m. There will be ham, sausage, bacon, eggs, hash browns, grits, sausage gravy and biscuits. Coffee and orange juice will be available also. There is a cost per plate. Please come out and support your local fire department!

THIRD ANNUAL CHARITY MOTORCYCLE RIDE APRIL 25
The Newborn Riders and Carolina Faith Riders of Person County will conduct a motorcycle ride on April 25. Registration will be from 9:00am-10:00am on the day of the event in the parking lot of the Shady Hill Baptist Church, 1500 Old Durham Rd., Roxboro, NC. The ride will start promptly at 10:15. A meal for participants will be provided at the conclusion of the event. Proceeds from the ride will benefit the YMCA of South Boston/Halifax County and the Christian Help Center. Please do all you can to assist these worthy organizations.
