HALIFAX/SOUTH BOSTON NAACP MEETS MARCH 10
The Halifax County/South Boston Branch of the NAACP will have its monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 10 at the Banister Hill Baptist Church in Halifax in the fellowship hall at 7:00 p.m. with President, Rev. Kevin L. Chandler presiding. The Freedom Fund Banquet Committee will meet at 6:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend our monthly meetings.

VIRGILINA WOMAN'S CLUB MEETS MARCH 10

HALIFAX DIXIE YOUTH BASEBALL SIGNUPS
Halifax Dixie Youth Baseball will hold sign-ups for the Spring 2009 season at the following locations and dates: Saturday, March 14, Halifax Dixie Youth Field, 9:00-noon. Try-outs for team selection will also be held Saturday, March 14 at the Halifax Dixie Youth Baseball field. Major League try-outs will begin at noon and Minor League will follow. Boys and girls ages 12 and under are eligible to play. All players will be placed on a team. Participants must present birth certificates and must pay the registration fee by the try-out date, March 14. Any player unable to attend the sign-up dates may call one of the following numbers to sign-up: Randy Moore 476-2106, Barry Moore 349-9977, Raymond Duffer 349-5356, or Jeff Hardy 476-7228. We also have an opening for a major league coaching position. A background check will be conducted. If interested, please contact one of the above numbers.

SOUTH BOSTON AMERICAN LEGION POST 8 JUNIOR LEGION
South Boston American Legion Post 8 is sponsoring a Junior Legion baseball team this summer. Players may attend Randolph-Henry, Bluestone and Halifax County High Schools. Anyone born after January 1, 1992 is eligible to try out for the team at Halifax County High School on Sunday, March 15 at 2:00 p.m. and you must bring your birth certificate. OAK LEVEL FIRE DEPT. BREAKFAST MARCH 21
The Oak Level Volunteer Fire Department will have a breakfast on Saturday, March 21 from 7:00-9:00 a.m. with a menu of ham, sausage, bacon, eggs, hash browns, grits, sausage gravy and biscuits. A Cruz-In will be held Saturday, March 21 beginning at 8:00 a.m. at the Old Tultex Building, East Roxboro. A bazaar will be held, along with a BBQ. Vehicles will be parked on concrete paving and no fee will be charged. The event is sponsored by the Freedom Cruisers Car Club, Roxboro.

Spring Hunter Education Safety Class, sponsored by the VA Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, will be held March 21-22 at the Halifax Fire Department from 1:00-6:00 p.m. each day. The Southern Piedmont Educational Opportunity Center (EOC)is
sponsoring financial aid workshops for the month of March on
Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. and Wednesdays at noon at the
Southern Virginia Higher Education Center. Those students
who will be starting college in the Summer or Fall 2009 term
are encouraged to sign up for one of these free workshops.
