SoVaNow.com / June 27, 2013Sunday, call to worship was the first verse of “I Need Thee Every Hour” by the choir at Hitesburg Baptist Church. The Reverend Mike Riley read the announcements and welcomed everyone. Hymn was “The Solid Rock.” Prayer time ended with a prayer from the Deacon of the Week, Dean Elliott. Hymn was “Have Faith In God.” Choir special was “Blessed Assurance.” Everyone fellowshipped with one another while Deborah Pulliam, pianist/organist, played a couple of verses. The Rev. Riley brought the sermon entitiled “Rest for the Weary.” Scripture came from Matthew 11,28-30, Galatians 6,9, 1 Corinthians 15,58, 2 Corinthians 4,8-9, John 6 and Psalm 27. Hymn was “Trusting God.” Visitors at HBC Sunday included Joshua Haden, Luke Haden, Tyrus Haden, Tony and Judy Deal, Mark Fuller, Mr. and Mrs. Enscore and a couple of others.
Friday; Sam Parham, Norma Elliott, Alma Elliott and Ruth Overby went to Victory Church park in Roxboro for a gospel sing. Mr. Parham and Norma went to Seven Oaks Baptist Church for the benefit for Elaine Morris Saturday evening.
Friday evening, Abraham Tillotson went to the Dan River Baptist
Association Humanity meeting which was held at Edmond’s Park in South Boston. Saturday, he went to the benefit meal for Elaine Morris at Seven Oaks Baptist Church. He also enjoyed the gospel sing, which included a number of singers, that followed the meal there. Sunday morning, Mr. Tillotson went to a 50th wedding anniversary breakfast at Nelson Baptist Church for the Reverend and Mrs. Don Wilson.
Sunday evening, Ruth Overby went and visited Mr. and Mrs. Heiter Griffin.
John and Martha Szynklewski went to see Wally and Kathy Babel and Ethan Babel in Smithfield Sunday. They all had a good time together.
Remember the sick, lost and those who have lost loved ones including the Jaime Satterfield family, the Jeffrey Norton family and the Jonathan Brumfield family. Remember our great country and the problems in it, the lost/unchurched, HBC; Vacation Bible School-workers, teachers and children; hospital and nursing home patients, the lost, our seniors graduating from high school/college this year, people serving on mission, and each other as well. Also, remember our troops including Mariah Johns Adkins, Timmy Wilkinson, Brian Seate, Forest Clark, Jonathan Fisher and Dan Elliott; BIRTHDAYS, Harper Ballance, Ethan Epps, Janie Lynn Newton, Harold Spencer, Mary Childrey, Chad Overby, Joni Crain.
