Sunday, call to worship was “Sweet, Sweet Spirit” by the choir at Hitesburg Baptist Church. The Reverend Mike Riley read the announcements and welcomed everyone. Hymn was “The Lily of the Valley.” Children’s sermon, which was lead by David Riley, was concerning things/information to tell. He asked the children “Has anyone of you ever had something really exciting to tell, such as birthday parties, birth of a brother/sister, etc.?.” Some replies were given. Mr. Riley told them that everyone, including young children, have the exciting news of Christ and His love for everyone to tell. The children collected loose change from throughout the congregation for the May Loose Change project which will go toward the Hitesburg Building Fund. Prayer time ended with a prayer from the Deacon of the Week, Dean Elliott. Hymn was “Breathe On Me.” Choir special was “Kneel at the Cross.” Everyone fellowshipped with one another while Deborah Pulliam, pianist/organist, played a couple of verses. The Gideon guest speaker, Brother Bill Baker, discussed the Gideons and how everyone, including young children, can and should lead others to Christ. Scripture came from Luke 23:32-43 and John 3. Hymn was “Footsteps of Jesus.” Visitors at HBC Sunday included Brother Bill Baker, Joshua Haden and a couple of others.

Roosevelt Stone was recently honored for his birthday with a cook-out at the home of Tim and Paula Stone. Those there with Mr. and Mrs. Stone helping him celebrate, included his wife, Judy Stone, Lindsey Stone, Sidney Stone, Trevor and Sandra Weary and Josh Stone. Judy visited Johnnie and Julia Rice last Monday. Saturday, Judy, Lindsay, Sidney and Sandra attended a birthday party for Kylie Morris in Berea, NC.

Tim Hayes of Lake Mary, FL recently spent the weekend with Ronnie and Deborah Pulliam. He was here to attend the funeral of his uncle, Leo Carden. He also visited with the Fran Gregory family in Clarksville while in the area. The Pulliams and Mr. Hayes, as well as Dennis and Kelly Ballance, Grayson Ballance, and Harper Ballance, had lunch at Ernie’s Restaurant with Ray Pulliam, of Lynchburg, and several of his friends on Sunday.

Last Tuesday, Abraham Tillotson attended revival services at Grassy Creek Baptist Church in Grassy Creek, NC. Steve and Rhonda Powell were there to provide the music. The one that brought the message was the preacher, the Reverend Bray. Thursday evening, Abraham went to the National Day of Prayer at Halifax County High School. Friday afternoon, Mr. Tillotson visited Donald and Evone Jacobs, Cassandra Mosely, Brooke Jacobs, Tiffany Jacobs, Clare Yancey and Hana Yancey.

Michael and Stephanie Neal, Kensley Neal, Kate Neal, Vince and Melanie Medley and Mia Medley enjoyed dinner together at Old Country Club Steakhouse in Roxoboro, NC Friday evening. Stephanie, Kensley, and Kate attended a birthday celebration cookout in honor of Mildred Seamster, of Halifax, Saturday evening. Kensley spent the night with her Nana and Papa, Sam and Pat Fisher, Saturday. Stephanie, Kensley, and Kate visited with Sam and Pat Sunday.

Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. Heiter Griffin visited Ruth Overby.

Saturday evening, Judy Johnson visited Thomas Bailey.

Sunday, Vicki Overby, Carissa Overby, Annie Sue Overby, Jade Overby and Haley Overby went to Barbara Fisher’s to help Steve Fisher celebrate his birthday. Others there included Tammy Fisher, Derrick Fisher and Dylan Fisher. The Overby ladies visited Beth later that evening.

Remember the sick, lost and those who have lost loved ones including the Larry Scott family, the David Hallberg family, the Fran Gregory family, the Jack Yancey family, the Carl Dean family and the Brenda Self family. Remember our great country and the problems in it, T.E.A.M. Kids and the workers, the lost/unchurched, HBC, hospital and nursing home patients, the lost, our seniors graduating from high school/college this year including Sharon Kensey, Meaghan Overbey, Dylon Oliver, Carissa Overby, Maggie Merck, Hannah Riley, Kasey Morris, Taylor Elliott and Rocki Hamlett, people serving on mission, and each other as well. Also, remember our troops including Mariah Johns Adkins, Timmy Wilkinson, Brian Seate, Forest Clark and Dan Elliott, BIRTHDAYS: Carl Daniel, Donna Hastings, Betty Griffin, Catherine Elliott, Mildred Seamster.
