Sunday, call to worship was “Let’s Just Praise the Lord” by the choir at Hitesburg Baptist Church. The Reverend Mike Riley read the announcements and welcomed everyone. Hymn was “This is My Father’s World.” Prayer time ended with a prayer from the Deacon of the Week, Jimmy Wilson. Hymn was “When We All Get to Heaven.” Choir special was “How Great Thou Art.” Everyone fellowshipped with one another while Deborah Pulliam, pianist/organist, played a couple of verses. The Rev. Riley brought the sermon entitiled “On Our Way Home.” Scripture came from John 14:1-6, Matthew 10:32-33, 1 Corinthians 2:9, Colossians 1:16, Phillipians 3:20, John 5:22-23, 1 Peter 2:11, John 12:41 and Acts 4:12. Hymn was “I’d Rather Have Jesus.” “I Believe in a Hill Called Mount Calvary” and “Victory in Jesus” were also sung. The baptism of Charlie Conner then took place. Visitors at HBC Sunday included Lloyed Smith, Christina Smith, Miranda, Kim Conner, Greg and Whitney Cranfill, Aubrey Cranfill, Erin Cranfill and a couple of others.
Lisa Vaughan visited Norma Elliott One day throughout the week. Sam Parham and Norma went with the Millcreek Baptist Church senior citizens’ group to a fruit cake factory at Bear Creek, NC Friday.
Last Wednesday and throughout the week and weekend, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Overbey, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Councill, Matthew, Mr. and Mrs. Hal McGaughey, Glen Newton, and Margie Nelson visited with Donald and Yvonne Overbey, Beth and other members of the Decatur Overbey family. Joe, Erin and Matthew spent Thursday through Sunday around the community. Saturday, they all, as well as a number of others, went to Mr. Overbey’s funeral at HBC to show their final respects.
Last Wednesday, Abraham Tillotson visited W.G. Elliott. Thursday afternoon, Abraham visited Jimmy Sanford and Mary Galloway. Friday evening, Mr. Tillotson went to visit with the Decatur Overbey family at Powell funeral home. Saturday morning, he went to Mr. Overbey’s funeral at HBC. Saturday evening, Abraham went to hear the Hinson Girls in concert at Averett Baptist Church. Sunday, Abraham went to the monthly church breakfast at Nelson Baptist Church. Sunday evening, he went to Union Christian Church in Virgilina to hear the group Rejoice perform a Christmas concert.
Saturday, Charlie Conner grieved with the Decatur Overbey family at Mr. Overbey’s funeral at HBC.
Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Elliott and Taylor Elliott attended the funeral of Decatur Overbey at Hitesburg Church. Saturday evening, Ronnie and Deborah Pulliam, Dean, Ann, Taylor, Layne and Laura Arrington, Parker Arrington, Amy Marshall, Hollen Marshall, Elliott Marshall, Carl and Phyllis Daniel, Caleb Daniel and Lewis and Regina Synder went out to eat at the Lamplighter Restaurant in Clarksville.
Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Overby, Delores Hamlett, Rocki Hamlett, Charlie Conner, Beth and a couple of others enjoyed lunch and visiting with Ruth Overby at her home. Later that afternoon, Beth visited Lynn Overby, Annie Sue Overby, Vicki Overby and Haley Overby.
Sunday, Roosevelt and Judy Stone had a family get-together at their home to celebrate Josh Stone’s birthday. Those present with the Stones helping him celebrate included Tim and Paula Stone, Lindsey Stone, Sidney Stone, Trevor Weary and Michael Morris.
Sunday evening, Greg and Whitney Cranfill, Erin Cranfill and Aubrey Cranfill visited Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Cranfill.
Remember the sick, lost and/or unchurched and those who have lost loved ones including the Charlie Wiles family and the Decatur Overbey family. Remember our great country, Middle East Situation, people searching for jobs, those on missions, new church members and the Missionaries throughout the world as well. Also, remember our troops including Mariah Johns Adkins, Brian Seate, Forest Clark, Timmy Wilkinson, Brandon Barksdale and Dan Elliott; BIRTHDAYS: Jean Daniel, Josh Stone, David Martin, Hank Terry, Frances Forlines, Ryan Zoldork, Johnny Szynklewski; ANNIVERSARIES: Hank and Sue Terry.
