Sunday, call to worship was “Sweet, Sweet Spirit” by the choir at Hitesburg Baptist Church. The Reverend Mike Riley read the announcements and welcomed everyone. A ‘Thank You’ card from the food bank was read thanking the church for their food donations and a ‘Thank You’ card from those collecting school supplies for those needing assistance was also read thanking the church for their help with that project. Beth Ralston wished all those who are, and those who soon will be, grandparents a happy grandparents’ day. Hymn was “The Old Rugged Cross”. Prayer time ended with a prayer from the Deacon of the Week, Don Loftis. Hymn was “In the Garden”. Choir special was “Farther Along”. Everyone fellowshipped with one another while Deborah Pulliam, pianist/organist, played a couple of verses. The Rev. Riley brought the sermon entitiled “Is Your Sabbath Day Holy?”. Scripture came from Exodus 20:8-11, Matthew 6:33, Isaiah 61, Acts 20:7-12, Jeremiah 17:21-22 and 27 and Isaiah 58:12-14. The Ten Commandments were read by everyone. Hymn was “The Way of the Cross Leads Home”. Visitors at HBC Sunday included Patricia Talley, Dawn Milam and a couple of other believers.

Those visiting Ruth Overby throughout the week included Leslie Overby. Last Tuesday evening, Ruth visited Annie Sue Overby. Connie Cranfill and Ruth were in Danville shopping last Wednesday. Judy Stone visited Ruth Thursday. Debbie Overby and Connie visited her Sunday. Mitzie Waller was Mrs. Overby’s guest Monday.

Those visiting Decatur Overbey throughout the week included Reverend and Mrs. Mike Riley, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Overbey, Roger and Cindy Overbey, Bobby Cranfill, Roger and Libby Slagle, Mr. and Mrs. Hal McGaughey, Carolyn Overbey, Ronnie Pulliam and several others. Sunday, Bobby and Tammy Overbey were Decatur’s guests.

Last Tuesday, A.C. Stone visited Abraham Tillotson. Thursday, Mr. Tillotson visited Decatur Overbey.

Ronnie and Deborah Pulliam attended the wedding of their nephew, Russ Newman, and Stacey Wright Saturday evening at Riverview Manor, Hurt,VA. They were also guests at the rehearsal dinner Friday at the same location. Dennis and Kelly Ballance, Grayson Ballance and Harper Ballance also attended the wedding.

Friday, Norma Elliott visited Shirley Neal. Saturday, Sam Parham and Norma attended the wedding of Russ Newman and Stacey Wright in Hurt, VA.

Michael and Stephanie Neal, Kensley Neal and Kate Neal visited with their grandmother, Mildred Seamster, of Halifax Saturday. Kensley was an overnight guest of Taylor Clary of South Hill over the weekend.

Lucille Thompson was a Friday evening dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Elliott. Saturday, Dean and Ann attended the wedding of Russ Newman and Stacey Wright at the Riverview Manor in Hurt, Virginia. Sunday after church Dean and Ann went out to eat in Clarksville with Layne and Laura Arrington.

Saturday afternoon. Thomas Bailey visited Judy Johnson. Sunday, he visited Johnny and Margaret Humphries.

Tuesday, there was a Senior Citizens’ gathering at HBC. A good number of people, including some from Hitesburg, the North Fork community, the Aarons Creek community and a couple other places, were there to enjoy the food and fellowship with one another.

Remember the sick, lost and those who have lost loved ones including the Sandy Nash family, the Conrad Bowlin family, the Carolyn Marshall family, the unborn child of Michael and Holly Loftis’ family and the Justin Farrar family. Remember our great country, Reverend Lee and Christie Merck and their family’s new mission, the Crane family on mission, Nathan and Elizabeth King and their family and the children/teachers returning to school/college as well. Also, remember our troops including Mariah Johns Adkins, Brian Seate, Timmy Wilkinson, Forest Clark and Dan Elliott, BIRTHDAYS: Rocki Hamlett, Tanner Gordon, Libby Slagle, Beth Baker, Cameron Keeton, Derrick Fisher, Barbara Fisher, Steven Bowen, Ashley Bowen, Austin Riley, Luke Haden and Owen Lloyd, ANNIVERSARIES: Carl and Phyllis Daniel.
