The marriage of Jessica Lynn Nelson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Nelson of South Boston, to Owen Martin Basham, of New York, N.Y., son of Mr. and Mrs. Owen Basham, of Leesburg, took place July 21, at the University of Virginia Chapel in Charlottesville. Dr. C. Russell Lee officiated.

The bride is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert MacCallum of Springfield and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Nelson of South Boston.

The groom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Martin of Moneta and the late Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Basham of Owensboro, Ky.

The bride was given in marriage by her father in the double-ring ceremony. Her maid of honor was Rebecca Blackwell of New York and her matron of honor was Lindsay Forston of Charlottesville. Bridesmaids were Lucy Capps, of Atlanta; Kaitlin MacCallum of New Kent, Md.; Mary McGhan of Springfield; and Attie Poirier of Washington, D.C.

Andrew Basham of Richmond was his brother’s best man. Groomsmen were Ryan Charles of New Orleans; Randall Harrigan of Atlanta; Joseph McDonald of New York; Eric Nelson of South Boston; and Gardner Semmelman of Philadelphia.

The reader was Temple Basham of Richmond. Greeters were Taryn Kirk of Leesburg and Degelis Tufts of Washington D.C. The soloist was Jacquelyn McAbee of South Boston singing “On Wings of Eagles” written by Kenneth Cranford while he was the choir director at the bride’s home church, First Presbyterian Church of South Boston.

An engagement party was hosted in South Boston by Mr. and Mrs. Chris Lumsden and Mr. and Mrs. Mike Thomas while another engagement party was hosted by Mr. & Mrs. Andrew Temple and the grooms parents, Mr. ande Mrs. Owen Basham in Richmond. The maid of honor and matron of honor hosted an “Around the House Shower” in Richmond and the bride’s grandmother Marge Nelson hosted a bridal shower in South Boston. The bride’s Aunt, Liz McGhan, and both Grandmothers, Ellie MacCallum and Marge Nelson hosted a bridal luncheon at the Clifton Inn in Charlottesville.

The rehearsal dinner, given by the groom’s parents, was held at The Space in Charlottesville. The reception, given by the bride’s parents, was held at Keswick Hall.

The bride and groom both graduated from the University of Virginia and received Bachelor of Science degrees in Commerce from the McIntire School of Commerce. The groom works for Sentinel Capital Partners in New York. The bride attends Columbia University where she is working on her Master’s in Business Administration.

After a honeymoon in Italy the couple currently resides in New York City.
