Margaret Catherine Smith, Brian Patrick Evans share wedding vows

Margaret Catherine Smith and Brian Patrick Evans were united in marriage on Saturday, May 18, at 4 p.m. at Crystal Hill Southern Baptist Church in Halifax. Rev. Todd McClure of South Boston officiated the double-ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Ms. Cathy Smith of Nathalie and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Smith Jr. of Virginia Beach. She is the granddaughter of Hut Cole of Crystal Hill and the late Margaret Cole, and Virginia Schroeder of Gulfport, Miss., and the late Ray Smith Sr., and Marie Frazier of Virginia Beach, and the late Dewey Frazier.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert P. Evans Jr. of South Boston. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Truiet S. Poole of South Boston and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert P. Evan, Sr. of Brookneal.

The bride, escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, wore a white strapless lace fit and flare gown, which featured a beaded empire waist. Her fingertip veil was trimmed in rhinestones. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of blue, yellow, and white daisies wrapped in blue and white satin ribbon.

Catherine Wilborn, of Charlottesville, was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Jaimi Ensey, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Sara Watts, of Scottsburg. They wore floor-length Malibu blue satin gowns and carried hand-tied bouquets of blue and yellow daisies wrapped in yellow satin ribbon.

Evelyn Farmer, of Alton, was the flower girl. She wore a blue satin tea-length dress embellished with flower appliques and carried a wicker basket of daisy petals.

The groom wore a black tuxedo and white dress shirt, white vest and tie and a single white rosebud boutonniere. The groom’s father was the bestman. He wore a black tuxedo and white dress shirt, silver tie and vest and a single white rosebud boutonniere. Groomsmen were Colton Mays of Amherst, Bradley Ensey, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Ray Smith III, of Virginia Beach. They wore black tuxedoes, white dress shirts, blue vests and ties and single white rosebud boutonnieres.

Jay Farmer, of Alton, was ring bearer. He wore a black tuxedo identical to the groomsmen with a single white rosebud boutonniere. He carried the bride’s grandfather’s bible.

Donna Halleck served as pianist and Allen Halleck served as trumpeter, both of Chesapeake.

Nathaniel Peade, of South Boston, served as reader.

Sandra Cash, of Halifax, served as Mistress of Ceremonies.

The reception was held at the T. N. Snow Farm in Crystal Hill with a buffet dinner and dancing.

After honeymooning in Gatlinburg, Tenn., the couple resides in Halifax County.

•A bridal shower was given March 5 by Linda Simmons and Christina Drewery at Kincaid’s Restaurant in Virginia Beach.

•A bridal shower was given March 17 by Barbara Cole, Susan Wilborn, Billie Canada, Jean Brooks, and Peggy Cole at Mt. Cana United Methodist Church.

•A bridal shower was given April 21 by Vickie Poole, Cindy Poole, Cheryl Clark, Beth Farmer, Donna Hammock, and Karen Schmidt at Mt. Cana United Methodist Church.

•An after-rehearsal dinner, hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Robert P. Evans, Jr., was held May 17 at Four Oaks Restaurant and Lounge.
