Mecklenburg Junior Women’s Association cotillion

The new members of the Mecklenburg Junior Women's Association were recognized at the annual Mother-Daughter Tea on Sunday, April 11. These girls will be initiated at the upcoming cotillion on May 22. The members of the organization volunteer their time to help with community projects and events. Clarksville Lady Buggs meet at ‘The Farm’

The Clarksville “Lady Buggs,” a chapter of the Red Hat Society, met at CornerStone Farm Bed and Breakfast in Red Oak for a recent outing that included a goat milking demonstration, a lite-fare lunch, and a cheese making demonstration.

CMH receives gift from Girl Scout

Community Memorial Healthcenter (CMH) recently received a special gift of handmade baby bonnets and blankets from Shannon Muller, a very generous sixth grader at Bluestone Middle School. Muller is an active member of the Junior Girl Scouts and achieved her Bronze award for her hard work and dedication in knitting a large supply of bonnets for CMH’s newborn babies. Along with her Bronze award, Muller also received two badges, completed one of the Girl Scout Signs, and earned the Junior Aid Award by teaching younger Girl Scouts how to knit. Applications sought for second annual Pageant of Hope

Miss Halifax County Pageant of Hope will be held on Saturday, June 5, at 7 p.m. in the Halifax County High School auditorium. All proceeds will benefit the Halifax County Cancer Association. The pageant offers seven age divisions.

Those who arrive by 8 a.m. at the Halifax County Humane Society's pancake breakfast at Applebee's Saturday, Feb.20, will have a chance to win this Longaberger basket and these great cookbooks. The breakfast will run from 7-10 a.m. It's just $7 per person and all proceeds will go to caring for local animals.
