HRH lab accredited by College of American Pathologists

The national recognition follows a recent onsite inspection of equipment, facilities, staff qualifications, safety programs and records and the overall management of the laboratory. The clinical laboratory of Halifax Regional Hospital has been awarded accreditation by the Accreditation Committee of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) based on the results of a recent onsite inspection.

Relay for Life turns 16 with May 15 walk

Chalon Carter will serve as Honorary Chairperson for South Hill’s Relay for Life, to be held at Centennial Park on May 15 with events beginning at 12 noon. Relay for Life of South Hill 2010 is turning 16, and the Relay Committee has adopted a fitting theme, “Sweet 16, Blowing out Candles for a Cure = More Birthdays.”

CMH starts cancer support group

Community Memorial Healthcenter in South Hill (CMH) has developed a NEW support group for adults who have a history of cancer: patients, survivors, caregivers or anyone with a family member dealing with cancer.

CMH plans ‘CSI: Career Scene Investigation’ summer camp

No, CMH isn’t investigating crime scenes, it’s exploring the world of healthcare. Area seventh and eighth graders in Mecklenburg, Lunenburg and Brunswick Counties will have the opportunity to attend a unique program at Community Memorial Healthcenter in South Hill that will introduce them to a broad range of health careers.

Leadership Mecklenburg is ready to kick off its 2010-2011 year and is looking for participants who are eager to learn more about Mecklenburg County and what it has to offer. Leadership Mecklenburg is a program designed to bring community and business leaders and everyday citizens together to enhance their wisdom and expand their information about their home area.
