The marriage of Kathryn Brooke Young to Joseph Edward Wilkerson was celebrated on June 27, at First Baptist Church Main Street of South Boston. The Rev. Dean Miller, former youth minister of the bride, officiated the double ring ceremony.

The marriage of Amanda Joanne Burton to Alan Rector Lotspeich took place on May 10, 2009, at Magnolia Plantation in Charleston, South Carolina. The Reverend Frank Harris, Chaplain, United States Air Force, officiated the double-ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Ms. Cheryl Maggard of Cayuga, Indiana, and Mr. and Mrs. Steven Burton of Marion, Indiana. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Maggard of Fairmount, Indiana; Mr. and Mrs. Simon Aglikin of Marion, Indiana; and Mr. and Mrs. Michael Burton of Fairmount, Indiana. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde E. Lotspeich, III, of Parksley, Virginia. He is the grandson of Mrs. Gladys T. Salley and the late Mr. James R. Salley of Halifax, Virginia, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Clyde E. Lotspeich, Jr. of Parksley, Virginia. The matron of honor was Mrs. Kristy Weaver, sister of the bride, from Indianapolis, Indiana. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Natalie Lotspeich, sister-in-law of the groom from Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania; Mrs. Clare Lotspeich, sister-in-law of the groom from Midlothian, Virginia; Mrs. Desiree Chappell and Mrs. Lauren Gonzalez, both of Charleston, South Carolina. Miss Arianna Gonzalez was flower girl. Mr. Clyde E. Lotspeich, III, was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Mr. Walter B. Lotspeich, brother of the groom, from Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania; Mr. R. Russell Lotspeich, brother of the groom, from Midlothian, Virginia; Mr. Aaron Bohl of New Church, Virginia, and Mr. David Waterfield of Atlantic, Virginia. Master Bryce B. Lotspeich, nephew of the groom, from Midlothian, Virginia, was ringbearer. Mr. Derek Weaver, brother-in-law of the bride, Mr. Zachary Chappell, and Mr. Bryan Fox served as ushers. Ms. Patrena Williams served as wedding coordinator. The wedding party entered the Carriage House to “Over the Rainbow” sung by the bride’s sister, Mrs. Kristy Weaver, who accompanied herself on the guitar. The mothers of the bride and groom placed flowers in individual vases which were later joined by the bride and groom to symbolize the union of the two families. The bride and her father entered to “Bridal Chorus from Lohengrin.” The vows were exchanged before a flower-draped arbor. Mrs. Weaver sang “L.O.V.E” as the bride and groom presented flowers to the mothers. The wedding party recessed to “Everyday.” A buffet reception immediately followed the ceremony at the plantation. Gifts were presented to the wedding party attendants by the bride and groom at an informal rehearsal dinner hosted by the groom’s parents at Charleston Air Force Base on May 9, 2009. Mrs. Natalie Lotspeich and Mrs. Clare Lotspeich hosted a miscellaneous shower for Amy and Alan at Spinnaker’s Restaurant in Midlothian, Virginia, on March 14, 2009. The newly-weds are both serving in the Active Duty United States Air Force at Charleston Air Force Base, Charleston, South Carolina. After a honeymoon in Key West, Florida, and Nassau in the Bahama Islands, the couple resides in Ladson, South Carolina.

Amy Lynn Alderson, Joseph Michael Compton wed

The marriage of Amy Lynn Alderson, daughter of Marie Alderson and Edward Alderson, to Joseph Michael Compton, son of Vicky Allen, took place February 14, 2009, at Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Vernon Hill. The bride is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Alderson and the late Mr. and Mrs. Herman Womack. The groom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. James Chandler of South Boston, and the great grandson of the Ms. Ola Lloyd.
