Two killed in Saturday crash

Two Halifax County residents died at the scene of a single vehicle crash on Saturday night on U.S. 501 North, about three-tenths mile south of its intersection with State Route 795. Gary Van Anderson, 47, of 3116 Bradley Creek Road, Nathalie was the driver of 1979 Jeep which veered off the left side of the roadway and struck a tree. Anderson and a passenger in the vehicle — his wife, 49 year old Rachel Terry Garrett Anderson of the same address —were both declared dead at the scene of the accident.
