UPDATE: Death toll rises to three in Chase City crash

A third person, Bluestone High School teacher Donald McInturf, has died as the result of a head-on auto collision Monday around 5 p.m. on Route 47 near Chase City.

$1000 grant sparks teen book club

The Halifax County-South Boston Regional Library is pleased to announce the receipt of a $1,000 grant awarded by the National Home Library Foundation to be used toward the purchase of Young Adult Books. Rhonda Griffin, the library director, applied for the grant in November. On April 4, the library received a check for $1,000 to be used specifically for the purchase of young adult books for the library system.

HAIFAX REGIONAL SETS OPEN HOUSE FOR NEW PATIENT FLOORS. The two new patient floors at Halifax Regional Hospital will be ready for occupancy on Sept. 1. An open house is scheduled for Sunday, August 23 from 1-3 p.m. during which time the community is invited to tour the completed project, enjoy refreshments, receive free blood pressure screenings and register for door prizes.

Put Sunday, Aug. 23 on your calendar and join the physicians, staff and volunteers of Halifax Regional Hospital for a look at the new area that will officially receive patients on Sept. 1. If you have been watching the construction then you know work is progressing at a rapid rate and the project is nearly complete. The community is invited to attend the Grand Opening to celebrate the new construction on Sunday, August 23, from 1-3 p.m.
