Seeing potential in the equine industry

Mike Sexton expressed optimism about the potential of horse-related tourism and agri-business development across Halifax County. Sexton, the executive director of the Halifax County Industrial Development Authority, said Monday there is real potential for Halifax County with the growing interest in horse-related businesses, part of the agri-tourism segment of the economy.

One charged with shoplifting at Wal-Mart

Jaurice Ferrell, 18, of Bane Street, South Boston has been charged with shoplifting from Wal-Mart. South Boston Police officers responded to a call from the store on Sunday afternoon, April 12 around 2:38 p.m. A store loss prevention associate told officers that he believed two of the suspects were hiding behind Hibbett’s Sports Store in the shopping center and a third suspect, later identified as a juvenile, was walking in the parking lot near Wendy’s.
