Meadville Elementary teacher, custodian receive top staff honors

DAR leads celebration of Constitution Week

On Thursday, Sept. 17, the nation begins its celebration of Constitution Week and here in Halifax County a proclamation designating the special week has been passed by members of the County’s governing body.

Halifax Council resumes business Tuesday night

After taking the month of August off, members of Halifax Town Council will meet tomorrow night, Tuesday, 15 at 7:30 p.m. with the first order of business being a public hearing on a rezoning request from the Julian Hall family to rezone 34.16 acres located off Cowford Road from M-1 Manufacturing to R-1 Residential. Approval of the request is recommended by the Town’s Planning Commission.

‘Third Thursdays’ returns this week as day-long affair

The enthusiasm generated during the summer months of the Third Thursdays Main Street Stroll has evolved into a monthly event which will be celebrated in Downtown South Boston as a daylong offering. South Boston Town Manager Ted Daniel pointed to the energy created by the event which was started by Downtown merchants and the Parsons Bruce Art Gallery as being “something we want to maintain. It brought excitement and enthusiasm to the Town and people had a good time and didn’t want that to end,” Daniel said. He noted that Hill Studio, which is helping the Town with its comprehensive plan, noticed that energy and enthusiasm and wanted to include it as a part of its presentation.
