Meadville Elementary teacher, custodian receive top staff honors

Myers, a second grade teacher at Meadville Elementary, was named the HCPS Teacher of the Year at a staff recognition banquet this week. Saunders is emergency services coordinator

Kirby Saunders has been named Halifax County’s new Emergency Services Coordinator, according to an announcement Tuesday by Halifax County Administrator George Nester. Saunders is currently employed as Emergency Management Coordinator at Halifax Regional Health Center in South Boston.

Halifax teenagers charged with vandalism of government property

Officer S. M. Comer of the Halifax Police Department has charged two 15 year old male Town of Halifax residents with intentionally damaging government property — including a fenced storage area, pickup truck, storage trailer, police light bar, computer, and other items — located behind the Bethune complex in Halifax. The offense occurred on April 14.
