Pair of holiday crashes reported

Two Vernon Hill drivers were involved in separate single vehicle crashes on Saturday, July 4. In the first, which occurred at 4:15 a.m., Darwin L. Hall, 40, the operator of a 1989 Toyota Four Runner failed to negotiate the curve at the intersection of State Route 360 and State Route 676 and ran off the right shoulder of the roadway. Overcorrecting he ran off the left side and then flipped the car which hit several trees before landing on its left side.

Drug charges filed

Two South Boston men have been arrested recently and charged with drug violations by members of the Halifax/South Boston Regional Narcotics and Gang Task Force. On July 4, Silas William Barnett, 53, was arrested on five counts of distribution of cocaine, four counts of conspiring to distribute cocaine and four counts of gang participation. Barnett is being held in the Blue Ridge Regional Jail System without bond.

Filming to begin on ‘Life’s Choices’

Miracles of Life Film Group is proud to announce the filming of “Life’s Choices,” a movie for all ages, cultures and races. It is a docudrama that will provide valuable resources and information which will aid in making educated and informed decisions before making negative life choices.
