Popular lake campground closed for winter

The US Army Corps of Engineers will close North Bend Park to off-season camping for the winter of 2009-2010 so that work on campsites and facilities can begin. North Bend will close to camping on Nov. 1.

First patients moved to new hospital floors

FIRST PATIENTS MOVE TO NEW HALIFAX REGIONAL HOSPITAL FLOORS. Jeffrey Brown will go down in history as the first patient to occupy a room in the new Halifax Regional Hospital East Tower expansion. At 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Brown was moved into his new room, the first of eleven patients to be transferred off of East 2 and 3 upstairs to the brand new patient floors.

Shotgun wielding man arrested after Sinai incidents

The Sheriff’s Office investigated an incident on Monday afternoon in which a man brandished a shotgun at a Sinai convenience store parking lot and moments later at Westside Village Apartments. Arrested was John Ellis, 59, of 1164 Crawford Road, Halifax.
