Town lays groundwork for IDA tenant

The South Boston Industrial Development Authority (IDA) on Thursday appointed a subcommittee comprised of Wanda Blythe, Larry Harris, Frank Lee and Ronnie Crabtree to interview and choose a contractor for the Houghton Park Office Building. Authority members further authorized Executive Director Ted Daniel to sign a contract with the company chosen by the subcommittee.

Summonses result from traffic checkpoints

On Friday night, May 29, the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office and Virginia State Police set up several traffic checkpoints throughout the county.

Local lawmen carry torch for Special Olympics

This Wednesday morning, June 10, law enforcement officers representing the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office, the South Boston Police Department, Halifax Police Department, and the Virginia State Police will be running in the Law Enforcement Torch Run through the towns of South Boston and Halifax to raise awareness for Special Olympics Programs.
