Viny is holding the first of 50,000 adoption papers now being distributed. Adoption papers are available at Italian Delight and many locations throughout the county. The duck race will be held on Saturday, May 16 with the event in Constitution Square from 11 am - 5 pm and the race at 3 pm. Citizens urged to lock up their vehicles

South Boston Police Department Chief James W. Binner would like to remind citizens the importance of securing their vehicles when they leave them unattended. Binner said “with the weather warming up you tend to have more people walking during the day and night which have led to these thefts.”

Halifax budget: no tax, pay increases

Halifax Town Council members got their first look Tuesday night at the Town’s draft budget for the upcoming 2009-2010 year. The $842,435 budget includes no wage increases for Town employees and represents a 5.45 percent increase — or $43,518 — over the current year budget of $798,917.
