Participants in the 2015 Clarksville Relay for Life fundraiser gathered at Robbins Park Friday for activities that took place throughout the day and late into the night. Cancer survivors and their supporters took a lap around the park, enjoyed a reception at the Clarksville Communituy Center prior to the event, and gathered after daylight fell to witness the Luminaria ceremony, in which paper ornaments are laid out over the field and lit in memory of those lost to the disease. The Mecklenburg County school board on Monday night reached agreement, albeit briefly, to support the purchase of health insurance coverage for school employees before their discussions disintegrated into sniping back and forth. The discussion of insurance coverage included a heated exchange before it passed by a vote of 7 to 1.
