Nearly done at Island Creek

South Boston NewsSouth Boston News
With two weeks to go before the ribbon cutting, Mike Denton and his team with Buggs Island Dock Service are completing the installation of a new boat dock and fishing pier at Island Creek Park near Clarksville. The official ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony for the universal access park will take place Wednesday, July 15 at 11 a.m. To help disabled persons get around, the fishing pier at the end of the dock has a lowered rail across the front to allow fishing from wheelchairs. Two swinging gates at either side of the pier offer easy access for wheelchair occupants who want to move from the pier onto a docked pontoon boat. The Island Creek Veterans Park is a joint project by the VFW Post 8163, American Legion Post 45, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
