11 indicted by grand jury

A Mecklenburg County grand jury handed down indictments against 11 individuals on Aug. 19, including four suspects on drug-related charges.

Michael Nelson of Virginia Beach was charged with one felony count of possession with intent to distribute less than five pounds of marijuana, and one felony count of possession with intent to distribute a Schedule I or II drug.

Wendell Raymond Brand Jr. of Locust Grove, Ga. was charged with one felony count of possession of a Schedule I or II drug, and one misdemeanor for marijuana possession.

Donald J. Toone of Boydton was charged with one felony count of possession of a Schedule I or II drug, specifically heroin.

Daniel Pottinger of Jamaica, N.Y., was charged with one felony count of possession with intent to distribute less than five pounds of marijuana, and one misdemeanor count for speeding, driving 83 in a 70 mph zone.

Trevonta Asharay Lynch of Littleton, N.C. faces one felony count of breaking and entering, and one felony count of grand larceny.

Xavier Jamar Dailey of Chase City was charged with one felony count of malicious wounding, and one misdemeanor count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Tyler Nicholas Eastwood of South Hill was charged with one felony count of embezzlement.

Clem Darnell Murray of Clarksville was charged with one felony count of driving under the influence after having been declared a habitual offender.

Chioke Rashaad Hinton of Petersburg was charged with one felony count of driving under the influence, third offense within ten years, and two felony counts of child abuse, disregard for life.

Jerry N. Phillips of South Hill faces a felony count of destruction of property valued at less than $1,000.

Georgiana D. Posey of Chase City was charged with one felony count of unlawful wounding.

Indictments are not findings of guilt, but rather a determination that sufficient evidence exists to bring cases to trial.
