21 indicted by Mecklenburg grand jury

A Mecklenburg County grand jury handed down indictments against 21 individuals on Feb. 16.

Alexander B. Baskerville Jr. of South Hill was charged with 11 counts of shoplifting, third or subsequent offense, and 11 counts of obtaining money under false pretenses.

Derek Lee Yoch of Clarksville was charged with one felony count of breaking and entering, one felony count of grand larceny, one felony count of larceny of a firearm and one felony count of possession of a weapon by a violent felon.

Jacob Thomas Bouknight of Henderson, N.C. was charged with five counts of shoplifting, third or subsequent offense.

Joshua Micanthony Bowens of Southern Pines, N.C. was charged with one felony count of grand larceny and one felony count of conspiracy to commit larceny.

Marco Orlando Kendrick of Charlotte, N.C. was charged with one felony count of grand larceny and one felony count of conspiracy to commit larceny.

Cheyenne Lee Cameron of Windsor, N.C. was charged with one felony count of possession of a weapon by a violent felon, one felony count of abduction by force or intimidation and one felony count of larceny of a firearm.

Jordon Malik Williams of South Hill was charged with one felony count of transport of a weapon by a violent felon.

Mandy Marie Cole of Chase City was charged with one felony count of shoplifting.

Christopher Snow Foster of Buffalo Junction was charged with one felony count of animal cruelty, specifically torturing a companion dog and causing its death.

Trina Sharmane Garnes of Boydton was charged with one felony count of embezzlement.

Paul Joseph Hayes of Chase City was charged with one felony count of making a false statement on a criminal history consent form.

Precious Cimone Hicks of La Crosse was charged with one felony count of destruction of property.

Cornelius Harris of La Crosse was charged with one felony count of eluding police/disregarding an audible signal.

John Wesley Sanders of Florence, S.C. was charged with one felony count of larceny involving a bad check.

Tammy Clary Davis of Crewe was charged with one felony count of shoplifting.

Dillion Lee Coley of Stony Creek was charged with one felony count of strangulation of another, one misdemeanor count of assault and battery of a family member, one misdemeanor count of unlawful use or causing damage to a telephone, and one misdemeanor count of violation of a protective order.

Niven Laron Baskerville of Chase City was charged with one felony count of one felony count of carrying a concealed weapon, third or subsequent offense. In August Baskerville was charged with one felony count of possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance, and one felony count of possession of a gun while also in possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance. Those charges are still pending.

Samantha Smith Shotwell of South Hill was charged with one felony count of malicious wounding.

Wayne Clay Babcock of Boydton was charged with one felony count of possession of a weapon by a nonviolent felon.

Coby Lee Lewis of Chase City was charged with one felony count of possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance.

Christian Robert Farmer of Halifax was charged with one felony count of abduction with intent to defile.

Indictments are not findings of guilt, but rather a determination by the grand jury that sufficient evidence exists to bring the cases to trial.
