71-year-old unhurt after being struck riding farm tractor

South Boston News
SoVaNow.com / October 09, 2017
Two vehicles were totaled, but no injuries resulted in a Friday morning collision at 8060 Mountain Road involving a farm tractor.

The 2017 John Deere had only about 33 hours of use when it was demolished in the 8 a.m. mishap. The machine was split in the middle when it was struck by a Ford pick-up truck driven by 48 year old Barry Rober of Callands.

The truck, owned by Adams Construction, attempted to pass the farm tractor as the operator, 71-year-old Dennis Daniel, attempted to make a left turn to the farm where he was working.

Daniel was ejected from the tractor by the impact, but was not injured.

The tractor was owned by Garland Comer of Lazy Farms, Vernon Hill who had just purchased it.

Investigating Virginia State Trooper J. A. Wilmoth charged Rober with unsafe passing in the incident.
