81-year-old struck by vehicle in parking lot / December 13, 2012
An 81 year old Virgilina resident, Norma Elliott, suffered severe head trauma yesterday after being struck by a vehicle in the Supply Line parking lot.

The accident occurred at 1:22 p.m. yesterday when 80 year old Janie Thorne of Randolph, the driver of a 2004 Ford Escape, drove over the yellow marked concrete curbing in front of the building, striking the pedestrian. Supply Line is located on U.S. 58 at its intersection with U.S. 360.

Elliott was airlifted to Duke Medical Center for treatment of her injuries, which authorities indicated could be life threatening.

Charges are pending in the accident which is under investigation by Virginia State Trooper A. D. Dishman.
