A bright and early Thanksgiving trot

South Boston News
A group of some 100 runners and walkers turned out bright and early Thanksgiving morning for the first annual Cornucopia Turkey Day Trot, a 5K that came with no entry fee other than the donation of canned goods and other foodstuffs for the needy. A carload of food was donated to Serving Hope, operated by The Worship Center. The event was sponsored by the South Boston Running Club and was dedicated in the memory of Elizabeth Conner, a librarian with South Boston and Cluster Springs elementary schools who passed away Nov. 22, 2011 after a six-year battle with breast cancer.
