A call to rally in Richmond
SoVaNow.com / January 21, 2013We The People of Virginia, Inc., an anti-uranium mining group based in Halifax County, is offering free bus transportation to Richmond Monday, Jan. 28 to join a statewide rally to oppose legislation to lift Virginia’s mining ban. The rally will begin at 1 p.m. and coincides with Lobby Day at the Capitol.
WHERE: From St. John’s Episcopal Church in Halifax to the Capitol Square in Richmond.
WHEN: The bus will leave from the St. John’s Church parking lot at 9:30 a.m. and return by 5 p.m. on Monday, January 28.
WHY: According to We The People: “The people need to descend on the Capitol in the hundreds even thousands to send a message to our elected officials to STOP uranium mining in Virginia — NOW! Our politicians will decide our fate in the next few weeks. They need to know that the people overwhelmingly say NO to uranium mining!
“Bring lunch or have money to buy lunch. Please take a day from work to save your property values and your family’s health. Come join us and let’s take our message to Richmond!
“Go to http://www.generalassembly.gov and call or email all the representatives and tell the KEEP THE BAN!”
