Alton hosts Christmas parade Dec. 8

SoVaNow.com / November 21, 2012
The 31st annual Alton Christmas Parade will be held Saturday, Dec. 8 at 11 a.m. The parade line-up will begin at the Springhill Recreation Club on Harmony Road and all participants are asked to be there by 10.

There will be a bake sale, with stew and crafts on hand in the heart of Alton near the Post Office and plenty of parking at the Alton Baptist Church.

If anyone wants to enter the parade, they are asked to please call Stacey Long at 517-1543 or 753-1523. There is no registration application or fees and anyone is welcome to enter.

Bring your automobiles, floats, ATVs, pets, and of course, a bag to catch all the candy that will be thrown.

Little Miss Alton is Miss Abby Duffer and she will be at the head of the parade. Hopefully, a surprise guest will be on hand to start the parade as the Grand Marshal.

“We are a small community that has a lot of Christmas spirit to share and we invite you to join us,” said one sponsor of the event.
