SoVaNow.com / February 15, 2018

The Country Express convenience store in Nathalie became the latest scene of an armed robbery Monday night when a masked suspect (above) walked into the store, held a cashier at gunpoint and demanded cash.

Police are appealing to the public for information on the assailant, who obtained an undisclosed sum of cash before leaving the premises.

Deputies with the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office and Virginia State Troopers responded to the call around 9 p.m. at the Country Express, located at 14018 L.P. Bailey Memorial Highway in Nathalie. Upon arrival, Investigator Jeff Burton and Corporal S. Britton spoke with the cashier who witnessed the incident.

The cashier described the suspect as a young black male, possibly in the age range of 17-24 years old, approximately 5’3” in height, and a small build of approximately 115-130 pounds.

The suspect was wearing jeans, a black hooded sweatshirt or jacket, black shoes, and had a black ski mask with one eyehole over his face.

The cashier stated that the suspect presented a small black handgun and demanded money from the cash register.

Anyone with more information concerning this armed robbery is asked to contact Investigator Jeff Burton at 434-476-3339.
