ATVs, trailers recovered / January 07, 2021

The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office recovered three stolen ATVs and two utility trailers over the weekend. The items were located in the Vernon Hill and Clarkton communities of the county.

The ATVs were taken from Cody Road, Lake Conner Road and the other from Bath County, according to Sheriff Fred Clark Clark. Clark added local authorities are working closely with the Bath County Sheriff’s Office in investigating larcenies that have occurred from Halifax County to Bath County and possibly in West Virginia counties.

Warrants have been obtained for Jason Thomas Allen for his alleged involvement with the larcenies. Allen has been charged with two counts of grand larceny and one count of breaking and entering. Allen is currently incarcerated in West Virginia on unrelated charges awaiting extradition back to Halifax County.

Sheriff Clark said the investigation remains active and more charges are pending.

Clark asked that if anyone with information about the larcenies to please call the Sheriff’s Office at (434) 476-3339 or the Halifax County Crime Line at (434) 476-8445. Authorities are attempting to identify the owners of the two utility trailers that were confiscated. If anyone has information on who the rightful owners of the trailers are, please contact Sergeant T.O. Lewis at (434) 476-3339.
