BEER BASH BOOSTS MMMG / September 18, 2019

MacCallum More Museum and Gardens in Chase City had a busy three days this week, starting with its first annual Beer Bash.

The event, a fundraiser for the museum and gardens, took place Saturday at the Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative Pavilion in Chase City. Local favorite Tobacco Road Band provided the music while museum board members and officers, including “Richie” Richards, served up adult beverages and non-alcoholic drinks.

The hit of the day were the ices served up by Danielle Harper of Danielle’s Frozen Treats. One customer described them as “smooth as gelato and the best dessert ever eaten.”

On Sunday, MMMG hosted guests at a reception for artists taking part in the annual juried art show. The next day, more than 60 bikers — members of the Harley Dressers, a motorcycle club that’s been around for more than 70 years — rode into town for a tour of the gardens and a lunch stop. For more on the art show and motorcycle ride, see pages A4 and A 8.
