Bower moving on after serving as Mecklenburg tourism coordinator

SoVaNow.com / September 13, 2017
Mecklenburg County Tourism coordinator Jacob Bower announced his resignation Monday night during the regular meeting of the Mecklenburg County Board of Supervisors. Effective Oct. 2, Bower will begin working with the Virginia Tourism Corporation on regional issues.

Bower assumed the post in December 2015, replacing Justin Kerns, the county’s first tourism coordinator. Kerns now serves as the head of Frederick County Convention and Visitors Bureau near Winchester.

Bower is a native of Mecklenburg County and a graduate of Park View High School. He left for college, earning a bachelors degree in hospitality and tourism management from Virginia Tech.

He said he plans to continue working with the county on tourism-related matters as part of his new job.
