Brunswick private school students return to classroom after two-day pause / September 03, 2020
Brunswick Academy Middle and Upper School students have returned to the classroom after a two-day precautionary period of at-home virtual learning, a step taken after one person at the school tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.

Last week it was reported that a COVID-19 outbreak had occurred at the school after several students and staff were notified by the Virginia Department of Health of their possible exposure to the virus. Test results for exposed individuals so far have come back negative. Since there is only one positive test for the virus, Brunswick Academy is no longer considered to be an outbreak site under Virginia Department of Health standards.

Brittney Weidman, Head of School for Brunswick Academy, said the school followed safety and wellness protocols in their reopening plan that BA administration and staff developed and submitted to the state prior to beginning the school year. She also said that only those individuals asked to quarantine were possibly exposed on campus.

The person with the confirmed COVID-19 test will remain under quarantine until it has been determined that the virus has run its course.

Weidman wanted the faculty, staff, students, and parents to know that the proper protocols are being followed and the school community is being updated accordingly.
