Bust yields charges against 13

Thirteen Halifax County residents were arrested this week and charged with a variety of narcotics violations. Of those thirteen arrests, nine had South Boston addresses while another three listed Halifax addresses and one from Alton.
According to Halifax County Sheriff Stanley Noblin investigations into drug activities have been ongoing over the past several months and the mass arrests are the result of indictments from those investigations.
Special Agent Mark T. Campbell of the Virginia State Police, who is the Coordinator for the Halifax/South Boston Regional Narcotics and Gang Task Force, prepared a report outlining the following charges:
n Calvin Baker of Union Church Road, South Boston was charged with three counts of distribution of cocaine and three counts of conspiring to distribute cocaine. A search warrant was produced at Baker's 2155 Union Church Road address and the following items were seized: suspected powder cocaine; suspected "crack" cocaine, a small amount of suspected marijuana, an assortment of prescription pills, syringes and US currency. Investigation is continuing at this location.
n Niles Villines of Philpott Road, South Boston was arrested and charged with four counts of distribution of cocaine and four counts of conspiring to distribute cocaine.
n Samuel Williamson of Dan River Church Road, South Boston was charged with three counts of distribution of cocaine and three counts of conspiring to distribute cocaine.
n Amanda Conner of Newton Farm Road, South Boston was charged with two counts of distribution of cocaine and two counts of conspiring to distribute cocaine. She was also charged with one count of marijuana possession.
n Luther Powell of Bold Springs Road, South Boston was arrested and charged with a second offense of conspiring to distribute Schedule 1 and 11 narcotics. He was also charged with the possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and the possession of a weapon, (not a firearm) and a first offense of marijuana possession.
n Russell Newman of Height Trail, Halifax and Shawntell Ferrell of Lincoln Drive, South Boston were each charged with one count of distribution of cocaine.
n Samuel Redd of Halls Trail, Halifax, was charged with one count of possession of cocaine and one count of possession of marijuana.
n Another resident of Hall's Trail, Thomas Jones, was charged with the manufacture of marijuana.
n Christine Baker of Paradise Road, Alton was charged with two counts of possession of hydromorphone.
n Wayne Featherston of Daniels Trail, South Boston was charged with one count of the manufacture of marijuana, and Marque Medley of Taylor Avenue, South Boston was charged with two counts of distribution of marijuana.
n A vehicle stop was conducted in relation to the indictment of Shamoni Faulkner who was charged with one felony count of distribution of marijuana. A substance suspected of being marijuana and suspected pilisibin mushroom were seized as a result of this stop, along with the vehicle.
Other traffic stops were made resulting in the seizure of marijuana and prescription medications.
The investigation is continuing and members of the Regional Narcotics Task Force, the South Boston Police Department and the Halifax County Sheriff's Department thank the citizens of the Town of South Boston and the County of Halifax for all the information and calls pertaining to the illegal on-going drug activities.
