Car stolen at gunpoint at shopping center / February 01, 2021

South Boston Police are searching for a suspect who held a man at gunpoint in the parking lot of Centerville Shopping Center before taking his car, a 2009 Kia.

The incident happened Friday, around 11 p.m. A male subject told police that he was approached by a black male, estimated to be around 20 to 30 years old, who asked for a cigarette. After a brief conversation, the victim was forced at gunpoint from his car by the suspect.

The armed suspect fled the shopping center on the man’s car, a 2009 gold, four-door Kia bearing Virginia license plate XRS-9608. The vehicle likely has front-end damage as the suspect struck a pole in the parking lot as he fled the scene.

The suspect is described as being 5’7” to 5’9”, medium build and wearing a military style field jacket and a dark colored stocking cap.

Anyone having any information regarding this crime is asked to call the South Boston Police Department at 434-575-4273 or the Halifax County Crime Line at 434-476-8445.
