Charlotte County woman dies in crash outside Clarksville

SoVaNow.com / July 03, 2013
A Charlotte County woman died in a two-car crash outside of Clarksville Thursday night.

Virginia State Police responded to Highway 15 south near Mt. Ararat Rd. at 11:00 p.m. Thursday after receiving reports of a head-on collision. According to Trooper J.A. Williamson, a 2004 Grand Marquis driven by 71-year-old Frederick W. Gaston of Clarksville crossed the center line and collided with a 1993 Geo Prizm driven by 24-year-old Lindsey G. Claytor of Charlotte Courthouse. The impact of the crash forced the Prizm off the right side of the road where it struck the guardrail.

Claytor died at the scene. A passenger in her vehicle, 28-year-old Anthony Irving, was transported by emergency personnel to an area hospital, as was Gaston.

Williams said both drivers were wearing their seatbelts.

No charges have been filed at this time. The crash remains under investigation.
