Clarksville man dies after crash on Route 15-N / October 23, 2019

A Clarksville man died in a two-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon outside of town, in the vicinity of the VFW Post on Route 15 north of Route 58.

According to reports from investigating Virginia State Trooper W.T. Dean, the crash took place at 1:35 p.m. when a 2014 Hyundai Sonata collided head-on with a 2011 Ford Ranger in the northbound lanes of Route 15.

The passenger of the Hyundai, Doyle Nelson, 55, of Clarksville, was transported to Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital in South Boston where he succumbed to his injuries later that same day.

The crash remains under investigation. Charges are pending, according to Virginia State Police spokesperson Corinne Geller. Additional information about the drivers of the two vehicles and circumstances of the crash were not available at press time.
