Come swim with Fido & Friends

Bring your canine friends to the Staunton River State Park pool on Saturday, Sept. 8 and go for a swim! You can pal around with your best friend at the Paws In The Pool fundraiser at the state park, taking place from noon to 4 p.m. on the final day of the season. Paws In The Pool is sponsored by the Halifax Dog Squad to raise money for animal rescue efforts. Vinny the Pizza Man with Italian Delight in South Boston will be there serving free pizza to the human guests. There will be bathing suit contests and much more. Bring Fido out and enjoy off-the-leash fun in the fenced-in pool area. There will be two lifeguards on duty. Prepaid tickets are $20 a dog and $5 for any additional dogs owned by the same family. $25 at the door the day of, and $5 for any additional dogs owned by the same family. The State Park parking fee is $4.00. To register for the event, visit Halifax Dog Squad on Facebook (@HalifaxDogSquadInc) and look for the “Get Tickets” link. (CORRECTION: the Sept. 6 print edition of the News & Record listed an incorrect day and date for the event. It is Saturday, Sept. 8 from noon to 4 p.m. at Staunton River State Park.
