Council committees to convene

South Boston Town Council will hold committee meetings this afternoon beginning at 5:45 p.m. in Council Chambers on Yancey Street.

The Current Issues Committee will consider two requests: the first, to close an unopened Prospect Avenue north of its intersection with College Street, some 198 feet long.

The second is a recommendation from the Town’s Planning Commission to rezone 17 lots in Poplar Creek Subdivision from R-2 Medium Density Residential to R-3 Medium Density Residential.

The lots are owned by the Town and front on Poplar Creek Street, Harrell Street and Terry Avenue.

The only other matter on the agenda is for the Finance Committee to consider the monthly financial report.
