Couple lands in jail after fight

SoVaNow.com / May 21, 2018

An estranged Halifax couple got into an altercation Wednesday that ended with both parties — man and woman — facing misdemeanor charges of assault and battery.

Arrested were Frankie Wilkerson, 21, and Caitlyn Wilkerson, also 21, of Halifax. Both were charged with assault and battery of a family member; Ms. Wilkerson was additionally charged with throwing an object at an occupied vehicle.

According to Sheriff Fred S. Clark, at approximately 1 p.m. on May 16, authorities with the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office responded to the intersection of Griffin Trail/Hites Mill Road for a report of a domestic disturbance. Upon arriving on scene, Deputy T.W. Bush observed a male walking down the roadway who had visible scratch marks on his neck, back, arms, and side of his body.

The male victim informed deputies that there was an altercation between him and his estranged wife. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that a vehicle had been damaged during the incident. The male victim alleged that the female threw a stick at the window of the vehicle and broken the glass.

It was apparent that the male and female had assaulted one another during the altercation, according to Clark, and both parties were placed under arrest and transported to Blue Ridge Regional Jail.
