Crossing into history

South Boston News
Braving snow and cold weather, historical re-enactors successfully traversed the Dan River on Saturday, marking the 232nd anniversary of the Crossing of the Dan, a significant turn of events for the Revolutionary War army as it neared the end of its long conflict with British forces. The commemoration this year featured the river crossing and a program at The Prizery on the “Hercules of the Revolution, Peter Francisco,” as depicted by Travis Bowman, a sixth generation descendant.
